Fifth single/chapter from iamamiwhoami's audiovisual album BLUE.
Music video observations
The music video begins on a beach, with Jonna Lee lying on the ground being awoke by sunlight filtering through palm trees nesting over her. A faceless figure, last seen in vista, appears above her, and Lee smiles at it. The scene changes to Lee resting her body against the faceless figure, and another Lee wearing a white leotard draped with a white cloth is seen at a shore, with the faceless figure. Another form of Lee dressed in a plastic outfit with a paper collar sings, blue tears dripping down her eyes. This form of Lee looks into a mirror but only sees a faceless figure in it, and not her own reflection.
Lee then later dives into the ocean with the faceless figure, and at the end, they presumably drown as they float to the surface, unconscious. Lee in the white leotard is also briefly seen galloping on a white horse, which is compared to several faceless figures running across the shore. Lee and the faceless figure are seen peering into the water at the shore's edge, before a quick shot from hunting for pearls calls back to a similar pose at a lake's edge. A faceless figure is seen at the shore, folding paper boats and letting them drift to sea. The final scene cuts back to Lee waking up on the sand, but this time she is alone. Her white leotard is floating nearby at the shore. As her fingers grab the outfit, the picture cuts to black.
Notes
- The phrase "To whom it may concern." makes an appearance at the beginning of the video. This is the eighth occurrence on video overall.
- When Lee walks backwards along the shore, it parallels a similar action in t.
